The store is the brainchild of Matt Bass, who combines his love for software engineering with a passion for finding and restoring historical artifacts. Bass & Bennett's inventory is sourced from various global locations, including India, Oaxaca, and Africa, where Bass finds unique items that often come with a rich history.

The store itself is situated in a location that matches the character of the items it sells. Previously a nightclub, the current space has been transformed to reflect its historical roots, featuring exposed brick and a concrete floor, typical of the old produce warehouses of the area.

Bass & Bennett not only sells unique items but also serves as a community space, hosting events and showcasing the stories behind their products.
